“International Webinar on Technologies for Energy/Resource Recovery from Wastes” was hold by IFWS
International Forum of Water Sustainability (IFWS) organized the “International Webinar on Technologies for Energy/Resource Recovery from Wastes” with Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology (XAUAT) at July 28th, 2022. Prof. Xiaochang Wang, the CTO of IFWS presented the opening speech. Prof. Martin Wagner from the Technical University of Darmstadt (Germany), and Dr. Zuliang Liao from CAMBI Group (Norway) were invited for keynote presentations. Besides, the webinar was supported by the ELSEVIER journal “Results in Engineering”. More than 7000 participants involved by live-broadcasting platform.
At first, Prof. Wang elaborated that the conference theme became one of the most important concerns in water industry since huge latent energy were contained in organic wastes and it deserved further exploration and discussion. Prof. Wagner gave the first speech with the title of “SEMIZENTRAL: A new infrastructure concept for fast growing urban areas”. The challenges of water industrial infrastructure construction were presented first, and the concept of Resource Recovery Center (RRC) in the way of SEMIZENTRAL was introduced. Implementation of the RRC concept was successfully carried out in Qingdao, China, which was one of application cases in his study. Dr. Liao’ s presentation was “CAMBI advanced digestion for sludge management”. The theme was elaborated firstly with goals for biosolids management and low carbon biosolids management. Several key elements of advanced digestion with thermal hydrolysis technology and specific implementation status were emphatically demonstrated. Finally, application cases which were implemented by Thames Water and Beijing Drainage Group were introduced. Dr. Pang who is one of the early career editorial board members of the “Results of Engineering” presented the fundamental state of the journal and the contribution invited for the special issue of “Biomass waste to energy and resource”. He believed the special issue could be the continuity and extra carrier for this webinar. Submission of all the participants were warmly welcomed.
Prof. Li announced meeting summary in the end of the webinar. The essentials of each presentation were underlined. His own sense of identity and inspiration were also shared. He proposed water industry practitioners should with the purposes of theoretical depth, solid notion and successful projects in their career. Finally he appreciated the keynote speakers sharing their research achievements out of the busy schedule.
As the second academic conference organized by IFWS, it gave rise to wide attention at water environment area. Organizers are dedicated to building international influential series forum and strive for application of recovery energy and resource from wastes.
